There is no big story that links all of the events in Erophone together. What the game has going on is that you have this app on your phone which lets you look at girls and see their true selves! So, what at first looks like a normal girl, will actually be some kind of monster girl once you see her through the app. There is a decent selection of different types of girls that you get to interact with, but there is no bog story linking all of this together. You deal with one girl and then move onto the next one.

I would say that spot the difference or even hidden object is the best way to look at the gameplay being offered by Erophone. You move your phone around the girl and you need to find the difference between the girl in the real world and then what you are seeing on the app. It is a pretty basic gameplay mechanic and one that they do try to expand with a mini-game, but it works well and I found it pretty fun trying to find the differences.

There are eight different girls in the game and each one has her own personality. The voice acting is in Japanese, but there is a lot of text that explains what is going on and you get to know each girl a bit as you play. The girls range from a little mouse type girl to a robot so there is a good mix and the artwork here is great. The animations are a tad janky, but for the most part, I think that Erophone is a solid looking game.

I will admit that it takes a lot to shock me these days, but the graphic content on offer in Erophone is perhaps a bit too graphic for my tastes. I think that this is one area where they could have toned things down and the game would have been all the better for it.

I have to say that I think Erophone has some great ideas, but there are just a couple of things that prevent this from being a great game. To start with, you can get through all of what it has to offer in about an hour! However, it was more the tonal shift where things got too graphic and even kind of dark that I was not prepared for, I think had I known this going in I would have been more ok with it.
